Balatoc Mines Village Tour
This is en existing man-made attraction of the municipality of Itogon. It is the oldest mine in the province as well as in the country that was first opened in 1903. After it closed for some time due to the high costs of production, the low price of gold and other metals on a global scale, the site was opened to the public. One can experience the thrill of becoming a miner, complete with all the miner' gadgets and tools. Visitors can see and even experience how gold ores are extracted from the earth and processed. This includes the Crosby Park, Balatoc Lake and the Villaluna Center. Balatoc is only a 45-minute ride from the City of Baguio. Reservations may be made in advance for groups and educational tours.
